Rosal\u00eda<\/strong>, John Talabot<\/strong>, Ni\u00f1o de Elche & Israel Galv\u00e1n<\/strong>, Oscar Mulero<\/strong>, Alizzz<\/strong>, Rels B<\/strong>, Nathy Peluso<\/strong>, Henry Saiz <\/strong>, Francisco L\u00f3pez<\/strong> and JASSS<\/strong>, among the 40 artists from the local scene to play at the festivals 25th anniversary edition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Premieres and unique live shows<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This years S\u00f3nar stands out for a number of highly anticipated live premieres from a number of chart-topping Spanish artists. Among them a radical change of direction for neo-flamenco star Rosal\u00eda<\/a> whose new show will debut at S\u00f3nar 2018, the details of which are shrouded in secrecy fornow. Other debuts include, peripatetic electro star Henry Saiz<\/a> whose new LP ‘Human’ will be presented with a live band; Oscar Mulero<\/a>‘s new A\/V show ‘Monochrome’, and the debut of Refree<\/a>‘s electronic direction, accompanied by visuals by filmaker Isaki Lacuesta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flamenco is having a moment in the spotlight, and two of its most iconoclastic artists will premier a new show. Singer songwriter Ni\u00f1o de Elche<\/a>, and contemporary dancer Israel Galv\u00e1n<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, a number of established artists will be presenting their new records: Pina<\/a>, Olde Gods<\/a> and Undo<\/a> to name a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special Selectors<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Talabot<\/a> is now without a doubt the most important figure on Spain’s electronic scene. Who better then to take the helm of SonarCar for a 6hr set on Saturday at S\u00f3nar by Night? Expect to be taken on a journey by thi specialist in long form, narrative DJing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DJs and producers from the local scene will be featured prominently throughout the festival, among them JASSS<\/a>, Angel Molina<\/a>, Bawrut<\/a>, Clip & Cora Novoa<\/a>, E.E Shepherds<\/a>, Alicia Carrera<\/a>, DJ2D2<\/a> and Ivana Ray Singh<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the streets to the charts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Spain’s fertile music scene come several artists showing real promise, working across a range of genres and styles but all loosley grouped as Urban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mix of genres veers from more or less straight up hip-hop – Big Menu<\/a>, Rels B<\/a> and Valt\u00f2nyc<\/a> (who has been booked at the festival out of solidarity and in defence of freedom of expression), to Latin R&B from Maikel de la Calle<\/a>, to Mueveloreina<\/a>‘s day-glo trap and to the electronic, genre pushing beats with one foot in the rap world and the other in the club from Alizzz<\/a>, Steve Lean<\/a> or WBMS<\/a>. Elsewhere the line up features the vaped out slow tempo productions of Absolute Terror<\/a> or Pedro Ladroga<\/a>, the confrontational pop soul of Nathy Peluso<\/a>, synth pop from Museless<\/a> and MOW<\/a>, the meme magnet Lory Money<\/a> or the internet critical lyricism of Putochinomaric\u00f3n<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sonic explorers and experimental artists<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally the program features a number of artists who’s uncompromising exploration of the limits of electronic music is expanding what we think of as electronica. These artists range from veteran sound artist Francisco L\u00f3pez<\/a>, presenting a new show featuring recordings from the last 25 years, through to Alex Silva<\/a>‘s puntillistic loop based electro, the hardware based ambient of Atzar<\/a>, Blastto<\/a>‘s gabba influenced rave, field music from Lucius Works Here<\/a>, experimental balearic house from Defled<\/a>, synthetic minimalism from YDVST<\/a> and Merca Bae<\/a>‘s latin-grime.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
